This page shows the latest changes and versions for the client and server versions of Nalpeiron Licensing Service™.

KNOWN ISSUES AND RELEASE NOTES

NLS™ is not supported in Windows emulators and as a native process in 64bit apps at present, although it works fine as a 32bit process.

Please ensure you *never* mix the Filechck.dll (your custom copy protection dll) created with another version of License Controller i.e. Always check that the custom dll is used with the SAME version of the license controller that created it. It is best if, when upgrading your product, you include new versions of the custom DLL and the License Manager.

+	6/5/08	Firewall issues? new port checking app added to customer center	!	8/1/08 Mac	V 5.7 Mac SDK - A client was using the same application with the same license under Rosetta and natively. This means the data part of the packet had to be fixed for endianes to prevent license problems.
!	9/9/08	V5.8 has the following changes to handle Rosetta issues: The Rosetta fixes in the past version mean that PPC licenses had to be returned to the server before the update was applied and reactivated afterward. Some of the publishers thought that was too hard for their users. In these new versions, we've switched to a new license table (or, in the case of the Mac, a new extended attribute name). That way, old licenses will continue to work in the old tables and daemons. This version requires new Dylibs AND Daemons to be deployed. Because we use a new license table (extended attribute), the old daemons won't be compatible with the new-- they write to/read from different extended attributes. In case the publisher needs the old daemon for some reason (support for current users?), I left a copy in the /Developer/Nalpeiron Licensing SystemV directory. With this udate, if a copy of the daemon is present there, it will be moved to OLDDaemon.	!	9/9/08	IMPORTANT BUG FIX FOR 5.7 The previous version (*.7.0) had an error that caused a new license activation to mark all other licenses invalid. We recommend all users of V5.7 update as a soon as practical. NOTE: Existing end users that aren't experiencing trouble don't have to upgrade. The new daemon/dylib will not affect them.
!	9/9/08	NOTE: You need to re-create a new package with a NEW Dylib and NEW Daemon.	!	9/9/08	Don't forget to go to the website and create a new Dylib file.

Legacy PRO-Tector SDK Windows		Release:	V4.x

Legacy PRO-Tector SDK Mac			Release:		V1.x

!	8/1/08	V1.7 offers the following fixes and updates: A client was using the same application with the same license under Rosetta and natively. This means the data part of the packet had to be fixed for endianes to prevent license problems.			Backported the "without serial number" code from version 5. This allows corrupt licenses to be fixed automatically. Added a fix to prevent a V5 Mac license affecting a V1 license in certain rare circumstances.
